At the Strategic Planning Session in 2007, these projects were prioritized for needed improvement to our community:
1) Recruiting/Building a Vet Clinic
2) Expand or replace grocery store
3) Fill the open spaces on Main St.
4) Build Sr. Housing
5) Main Street Revitalization - Affiliate application on hold.

Projects well underway by others are:

  • Cowboy Hall of Fame
  • Value-Added Agriculture
  • Moving the Museum to the new location on US Hwy 2

 

New ideas are:

  • Securing & moving the John Deer tractor collection to the highway
  • Developing trails & historic markers at and around the Lewis & Clark park and historic bridge

Acting as General Partner and Developer of a multi-unit housing project, MVDC is preparing to apply for Tax Credits to finance much-needed independent living facilities with apartments for seniors.

Wolf Point Vet Clinic

Veternarian Clinic Construction

June 15, 2007 -- Construction of improvements has begun on the 2 acre property that MVDC has purchased on Hwy #2 and is reserving for the future Veterinary Clinic. Recruitment continues. The property is 1/2 mi West of Wolf Point on Hwy 2.

Granted RBEG funds for land & mortar for
development of a Vet facility.

2 Acre site has been purchased for clinic & more
repairs and upgrades on the existing buildings are scheduled for May, 2008.



Residential Clean-Up of Wolf Point

Led effort to identify residential sites needing clean-up and in violation of city ordinances. Issued 70 letters of clean-up encouragement. City council action was initiated on worst violations. Two demolitions have been completed.



Dental Office

Applied for and received approval as a National Health Service Corps site sponsor, allowing dentists and other health care providers to apply for student loan repayments in return for practicing here. Local vacancies are now listed on Nat'l Health Service Corps website.

With EC, Chamber, Tribes & Rep. Campbell petitioned MT Board of Dentistry to modify rules in credentialing for dentistry.

Secured essential start-up equipment for dental office and recruited a dentist, who in turn, purchased & remodeled the building. (Wolf Point Dental, Myriam Greene, DDS) Opened Oct. '05

• Facilitated implementation of Great Northern Development Corp (GNDC)

• Donated the Small Business Incubator building to GNDC

• Retained MT Highway Dept. offices in Wolf Point.

• Retained UPS hub in Wolf Point

• Secured dentist for Wolf Point

• Initial planning and public opinion gathering for Revitalization on Main Street


• MVDC organizes and lead a community strategy annual meeting. Updates on all community projects were given with questions and answers from the audience, and projects were prioritized for the meeting year. In 2006 and 2007 the events was televised on the local TV Channel. In 2008, the affordable senior housing projects was launched, and a new list of ideas was generated for the county - led planning project.
